Be prepared to be treated like a King, a Queen, but not a tyrant at the upcoming Friends of Opera annual Gala. Besides a wonderful dinner and silent auction, performances by UNL Opera students will highlight the evening that centers around the theme of Opera Royalty: Kings, Queens and Tyrants. Music will be from such operas as Midsummer Night’s Dream, The King and I, and Camelot. Selections from Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Rossini will also be featured. For the opera enthusiast, it is a perfect evening!

There will be ten silent auction items which include a 4-day, 3-night stay in Frisco, CO. Frisco is close to numerous ski areas and just west of Lake Dillion, one of Colorado’s largest fresh-water reservoirs. Other auction items are a private, catered dinner parties with live performances. Additionally, there will be drawings for bottles of vintage wines throughout the evening.

Funds raised through Gala ticket sales and auction items are used to provide scholarships to UNL Opera students, help in bringing the Opera Amahl and the Night Visitors to Fifth Graders in Lincoln and Central City this year as well as fund the replacement of worn-out costumes and scenery.

The Gala will again be held at the Nebraska Club, 233 S. 13th Street, 20th Floor. Parking is available in the attached garage. Registration and cocktails begin at 6:00pm with dinner served at 6:45pm. Tickets are $100 per person.
